Varsity Boys Soccer (2-0-1)
Marquette 6, Kingsford 0
The MSHS Varsity Boys Soccer Team traveled to Kingsford on Tuesday night to take on the Flivers in a U.P. boys soccer contest. Marquette came out strong and never looked back with a 6-0 win.
It started with sophomore Max Dawson taking a cross pass from senior Nick Lindberg at the 7-minute mark. Lindberg then found freshmen Ethan Sandstrom just four minutes later for the 2-0 lead. Lindberg earned another assist after distributing a pass to Dawson for a chip in goal and a 3-0 Marquette lead. Junior Axel Vermaat finished the first half goal scoring from a corner kick with an assist credited to junior Enzo Stabile. Senior Liam Jeevar tended net facing 1 shot.
After the half, the Lindberg-Dawson combo struck again with Dawson getting his third goal of the evening and earning the hat trick. Lindberg finished the scoring off from a Sandstrom pass. Junior Harrison Anthos took net duties in the second half and stopped all 5 shots.
From Head Coach Dan Salmon:
“Offensively, Nick Lindberg was almost unstoppable tonight. The combination of he and Max Dawson came up big in every area of the scoresheet. In addition, our defensive-mids of Evan Sysko, John Weber, Lewis Goff, and Hayden Byma controlled the game with very strong play.”
