The Iron Mountain and Marquette boys varsity soccer teams opened their soccer seasons and played to a 1-1 tie Thursday night in Iron Mountain. After a scoreless first half, Iron Mountain scored one minute into the second half on a deflected shot that was initially saved by Marquette keeper Liam Jeevar.
Marquette sophomore Max Dawson then knotted the game at the 24 minute mark on a penalty shot.
From Head Coach Dan Salmon:
“We had a lot of chances to score throughout the game but missed out on those opportunities. Iron Mountain gave us some things to work on and we will get to it.”
The Varsity Boys Soccer Team will stay on the road next week when they travel to Escanaba to take on the Bayside Soccer Club on Thursday, September 3. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
