At 2:30 p.m. today, Governor Whitmer and MDHHS Director Gordon announced a 12-day extension of the current pause on in-person education at high schools as well as school sports activities.
Under the new order, which will last until Sunday, December 20 at 11:59 PM, all in-person activities for students in grades 9-12 remain suspended. Districts may continue to educate high school students through distance learning, but may not have in-person athletics activities involving students in any grades.
While little information on a new re-start plan and other scheduling implications are known at this point, a meeting with the MHSAA Representative Council will be held this Wednesday, 12/9/20, at 1:00 p.m. to review updated plans, concepts and contingencies moving forward. Another update will be shared following the conclusion of that meeting.
