At a press conference late yesterday evening, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and State Superintendent Michael Rice announced that all K-12 school buildings – public, private and boarding – are ordered to be closed from Monday, March 16 to Sunday, April 5, 2020, in order to slow the spread of COVID-19. Buildings can reopen on Monday, April 6.
Effective immediately, all athletics practices and meetings scheduled to take place through April 5, have been cancelled. This includes planned activities on and off MAPS facilities.
It is our hope that activities may resume on Monday, April 6.
The MHSAA has not yet determined whether winter sport postseason events will resume following yesterday’s postponement as well as whether or not to host postseason events for spring sports. Any new information will be posted as soon as it becomes known.
